Steep Turns: Essential Video Pilot Training Information
These short videos are designed to support your flight training by reinforcing what you cover in the aircraft with your instructor. They are a study aid, not a substitute for dual instruction — every flight is different, and the techniques shown should always be applied in the context of your aircraft type, conditions on the day, and the guidance of your CFI.
We'll be adding more videos over time as the library grows. For now, the three available cover core handling skills every recreational pilot needs to be confident and competent with.
1. Normal & Crosswind Take Off and Climb
Walks through a standard departure and how the technique adapts when the wind isn't down the runway. Focus on into-wind aileron, directional control, and a clean, stable climb attitude.
2. Normal & Crosswind Approach & Landing
Covers the approach, round-out, and touchdown for both still-air and crosswind conditions, including the crab and wing-down methods. Emphasis on stable approach criteria and knowing when to go around.
3. Steep Turns
Demonstrates the entry, hold, and recovery of a steep turn, with attention to attitude, back pressure, power, and lookout. A key skill for building confidence in aircraft handling and developing your "feel" for the controls.
Watch them before your lesson to prepare, and again afterward to review. If anything in a video doesn't match what you've been taught — ask your instructor. Local procedures, aircraft type, and conditions always take priority over a generic demonstration.
Fly safe, fly prepared.
